here we are with some of the pinch pleats finished and some of them started to be folded. and there's the 3" at each end and the 4" spaces. take a needle and knot the end of the thread. press down firmly on the folds to form the pleats

when you feel the bottom of the buckrum hold the pinch together. now you can either do a stab stitch or a bar stitch this is a stab stitch and you do not actually see the stitch at the front of the pleats and this one is a bar stitch that goes across the front of the pleat. i will show you both. start with your knot

well hidden in the pleat and make sure your pleats are all even. and just below the buckram do a bar across don't try to sew through the buckram or you will be trying to sew through 6 layers of buckram and fabric, which will be really difficult. use the thread doubled over as this really has to be strong. there is the bar stitch completed

and then take the needle out to the side because it is very important that you finish off with a few good sturdy few stitches or over time the pinches will come undone. cut the thread now i'll show you the stab stitch. take the pleat and form a nice pleat pop the needle in

with the knot well concealed. stab stitch backwards and forwards just below the buckram. you will need to do it 3 or 4 times if you find it rather stiff, find a thimble or push the needle through on a hard surface. so you can push down more easily. finish off with some firm stitches to the side to ensure your sewing will not unfasten over time. having the thread double makes it more inclined to knot

so don't have the thread too long or it will knot just as i have done. i am going to finish one with pinch pleats and then i am going to make the other one a goblet pleat. so again take your pleat hide your knot well down out of sight in the pleat take your first pleat

what you've got to do is opps! my knot is not hidden. what you have to do is sew across the pleats here do one side first, 2 or 3 stitches and then the other side. for extra strength you can go back through the loop of the thread because it does help to make stronger knot. cast of at the back of the curtain where it will not notice.

now i will just show you this one is going to be the goblet. get it nicely positioned stuff the goblet with some cotton wool or wadding or interlining take some time to make sure the goblets are evenly stuffed. a nice feature is if you have acoordinating piece of fabric you can just pop it over the top and just makes a little dome

in a contrasting fabric so there you are. once you have finished you will need to fiddle for a bit to make sure they are all arranged neatly. here are the finished 4 pinch pleats and 1 goblet pleat.
