office interior design software
doug: hi, i'm doug from office. office insiders get to see office features first before anyone else. working on one of those features is stephanie horn, she's a senior program manager for office graphics. stephanie, what are you working on these days? stephanie: right now, i'm working on getting 3d model support into office. so, that's word, powerpoint, excel and outlook. giving people the ability to take a 3d model and bring it into their office document,
rotate it and use it and look at all the different perspectives inside office. doug: cool! so, you'll find this in the insert tab. what's kind of the experience once they are trying to work with 3d modeling? stephanie: insert a model, you can rotate it and get a 360â° perspective of the model, you can do pan and zoom if you want to see a component of the model and then try it out with powerpoint morph if you're in powerpoint. you can have the same model in two different slides and two different angles, and apply the morph on the transition tab
and it'll allow you to produce a cinematic animation from the one view to another. doug: this is built for educators - i've seen dinosaurs and things like that. stephanie: there's a number of use-cases. definitely, education is a big one because we know in education that 3d improves the retention of the information, the engagement in the information and the overall academic performance. it's good for enterprises, because right now there are certain folks in the enterprise that have access to models but you can't broadly share them. but now, you can get the model, you can position it yourself to whatever view is interesting.
you can copy and paste it. we only save one copy of the model in the file if it's the same model, copied and pasted. so you don't get that bloat from having the model five times in your file. doug: so, stephanie, the office insiders are there for you, what can they do for you? stephanie: we would love you to try out this feature. if you have any models, try them out with your own models, build some models in paint 3d check out remix3d.com take some models from that and try it
and just generally give us feedback about how you feel, what we should add, if anything's missing. we'd love that type of feedback. doug: so, office insiders, get busy with 3d modeling. cool stuff! now, if you want to know about the cool stuff first, be an office insider. if you're not, go to office.com/insider to sign up and learn more.
