modern rustic living room furniture
karen, why don't you tell us a little bitabout the accents and design elements you used in this great room? ok! well, taylor, again we are in kind of a largeentertaining space. we've got really high ceilings, which lentitself to extra high cabinetry with the lit glass tops in it. the backsplash, we were able to take up tomake it look even more grand. the glass backsplash, a modern element thatwe've got in there. we've kind of blended rustic with that modernelegance here so we have a rustic, wood-type
floor. it's a tile actually, which makes it a lotmore durable. but it still looks really authentic. into the great room, we've got the cathedralceiling that again adds to the height element throughout the space. it all feels like one large room. that's such a fabulous feature of the home. right. and we added the beams at the top just tobring some texture to draw your eye up.
it all kind of works together. we've got a dining space off of the kitchenas well that we brought in the wood elements combined with the stone. and the stone is repeated again on the frontof the island. so to make the space feel cohesive we've takensome of the same elements throughout the entire space. i absolutely love what you did and it's agreat space for entertaining, so great job. so, what about the furniture? what was your inspiration for the furnitureyou used in the great room?
well, we wanted to make sure that the spacecould fit a lot of people. so we do show in the dining room seating foralmost 10 really if you used the bench on the end. you could probably even squeeze a few morechairs around it. so, since it is the only eating area, it'snice to be able to fit that amount of people around it. the table in the dining room has kind of anoxidized finish on the top but very clean lines with the trestle style bottom. rustic yet elegant as well.
we added some denim elements, which speaksrustic. it's actually in a gray tone and not a typicaldenim tone you would see. i love those chair covers! i love them. yes. the bar stools at the counter, you can fiteven more than we put there. so, again, for an entertaining space, it'snice to have a lot of good seating. in the great room area itself with the sofaand the chairs, we've got a chaise, we've got seating for at least 8-9 people in thereas well focused around the fireplace, which
is a focal point, conversation point. there's also some rustic elements in therewith the coffee table. it's kind of a reclaimed, white-washed wood. we've got some leather elements in there again, which are rustic but the shape and style of a lot of the furniture is very clean-lined. we've got the mirrored tables on the endsof the sofa, which is very reflective and kind of feels a lot more modern. so that was kind of the idea with the furniture, trying to make the space an entertaining space that would fit a lot of people and be verycomfortable.
